Work Investment: Silk Blouses

I find that when looking through my mom's closet I'm always most attracted to her collection of silk blouses. They've stood up to the test of time, and when paired with a pair of dress pants or skirt can look more put together and professional than most of the polyester options in stores today - while not looking as stiff as starched cotton.

Building a collection of silk blouses takes some time and doesn't need to be done all at once. My first year after I graduated from school and started working full time, I was buying blouses that were button up with collars once every other month or once every two months. I found this particular style to be classic and versatile, while never having to be worried that my new hard-earned cash was going towards something that would go out of style.

Even if you choose to start with a traditional style as I did, it doesn't have to be boring! You can mix it up by initially starting with a classic white or blush colour, then mixing in some bold colours and patterns.

From Left to Right:
The Classic White Blouse - $208 by Equipment
Basic Non-White- only $39 from Joe Fresh!
Fun even for the most boring workplaces - Terracotta - $250 L'Agence via net-a-porter
Go Bold or Go Home - $110 at j.Crew
Colour Block - $260 Equipment via eluxe
I LOVE this pattern and it can even double on the weekends with a leather skirt - $260
Silk even for casual Fridays! - $110 by madewell

Rose Gold

Rocking the rose gold in a work outfit with my new flats I picked up during a recent trip to New York. I love the look of a collared dress shirt and pretty skirt, the skirt look a little less feminine and more business for the office when they're paired together.

Anyone else having issues with their plants during this humidity wave? My tomatoes are turning black at the bottom!

Also, I just downloaded Adobe Lightroom so hopefully I can change the size of the pictures better without the weird lines!

Chambray button-up from J. Crew (similar), Skirt from Ann Taylor Loft, rose gold choker from H&M (wish I had this one), ring from TopShop, glasses are DKNY, and shoes are Salvatore Ferragamo (here and was a definite work investment)

Un cinquante s'il vous plaƮt

We're headed to la bella provence tomorrow!! The land of poutine, dance parties and park drinking.

The Osheaga lineup is fantastic this year... I'm most excited for Justice and Florence and the Machine.
Since the weather calls for 35-40 degree weather, I've put together what my go-to festival outfit will look like for the weekend. I like to keep things simple... a bustier, tank and cut-off shorts to ensure all limbs are available for dance parties. Since the park has gravel, I am wearing my Chucks, as opposed to open-toe sandals.

I don't have an Alexander Wang Rocco mini duffle bag... but a girl can dream can't she? Perfect for storing a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, my sunnies and a blanket!
