Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee

This month is Queen Elizabeth's 60th anniversary to the throne, and she's only the second monarch to rule that long in all of the Commonwealth nations. In addition to the coverage of the multiple events happening this weekend, people are remembering Queen Elizabeth's evolving style over the decades. My favourite decade of style would have to be the 40's -just before her June 2nd 1953 coronation. Her style seemed as effortless and innocent as a princess should be, but still encompassing 40's post war fashion.

1942, soft curls in a pale taffeta dress

1942, masculine tailoring in a pant suit and classic white blouse

1945, beautiful beaded gown with large shoulders and cinched waist

1947, structured coat nipped at the waist and bold shoulders
